More Litchfield Beach

I am working on putting together a Litchfield Beach collection to have on display in my studio that will be available for purchase. If you don’t know about Litchfield Beach, it’s about 30 minutes south of Myrtle Beach S.C.

Each summer Litchfield Beach gives me an opportunity to read, eat, (I do that on a regular basis just not as good as I do there)  and work on a continuing personal project of photographing the area. The first stop is Litchfield Books. I always get two books that are usually read in the first two days, which means several more stops during the stay.

The second stop for Mattie and I is the Fish House for a big plate of creek shrimp, hush puppies and cole slaw. During our visit, there will be stops at restaurants named Louis, Dockside, Frank’s, The Mayor’s House, Hot Fish Club and others.

A favorite restaurant is the Mayor’s House because the bartender is an English teacher during the school year and bartender by summer. He always remembers my name, and we chat about books we have read.

Mattie and I go for a walk every morning and carry a camera. Many of the photos are shot on my morning walks. Then I put the cameras up and read. A camera comes out again as the sun gets low, and I always take the Leica to dinner.

No morning at Litchfield would be complete without reading the newspaper over a plate of grits, eggs and toast at Eggs Up Grill. Here’s one from the collection and one from a restaurant.
