“JAM” Session With The E-P1

with 2 comments

Here are some of the photos I shot at the “JAM” session tonight at Patrick Henry Community College with my Olympus E-P1 and a 25mm F1.4 lens.

The first photo is the Carolina Chocolate Drops. The second photo is Helen White and Wayne Henderson. The third and fourth are Montana Young. The final photo is Dom Flemons, of the Chocolate Drops, going crazy on the banjo.

“JAM” Session

with 2 comments

Wayne Henderson and Helen White, Montana Young and the Carolina Chocolate Drops along with the Junior Appalachian Musicians “JAM” program students performed at Patrick Henry Community College. If you have never seen these folks perform you have to go.

I’ve seen Henderson, White and Young in the past, but tonight was the first time I had seen the Chocolate Drops. They were outstanding. Thanks to the Harvest Foundation for bringing these groups here to promote this music to area youth. The first photo is Montana Young, then there are several of the Chocolate Drops and the final photo is White, Henderson and Sara Grabade.

The race was rained out today and will be held tomorrow at noon.  Fans sat through the rain until the announcement was made.

OK, I lied. Here are two more photos. This time they are of me.

Tonight, Mattie and I went out to dinner with a couple of friends who are in town to cover the race. When I arrived home, there were two photos of me in my e-mail. The first one is of me shooting in turn two with my Olympus E-P1, taken my Mike Paris. The second photo, shot by Mike Wray, is of me (far right) holding my Olympus E-3 over my head while using live view to take a photo.

They sent them to me to put on the blog. I’ll have to thank Mike and Mike in the morning. Get it? Mike and Mike in the morning on ESPN Radio? I know, it’s a bad joke.

More Truck Race Photos With The E-P1

Here are a few more photos shot with the Olympus E-P1 from the Kroger 250 Truck Series race today at Martinsville Speedway. The last one kind of tells the story of Martinsville. It’s not hard to lose your fenders.
